Wood Spell at dusk behind its picket fence, with the windmill and open paddocks beyond

Welcome to Wood Spell.

A 1910 Stone Cottage, Nestled Between the Paddocks and Kuitpo Forest

So much more than a place to sleep, Wood Spell is an off-grid hideaway for two, tucked between Hahndorf and Willunga, where the fire is lit, the cows graze in the paddocks and the world goes very quiet.

Book Now

Wood Spell was built from local stone and red brick in 1910, on two and a half acres in the Adelaide Hills, between Hahndorf and Willunga. More than a century on, her thick walls still hold the quiet of the place.

We've restored her gently. The old stone is still on show, the timber beams overhead are bare, and there's a wood fire stacked high with red gum. Outside, the garden runs out to a picket fence, an old windmill and open paddocks where the cows graze. Beyond them is Kuitpo Forest, with its tall pines, gums and walking trails.

She runs entirely off the grid. There's no mains power and no neighbours in sight, just a clawfoot bath under the windmill and a night sky that's very dark.

“Wood Spell is the perfect cottage to unwind and forget the world, reconnecting together in a place that brings old world charm with a touch of modern that doesn't take away from its history.”

- Kylie, Airbnb guest
